Upgrades and rescue

Your developer left. Your system does not have to suffer.

It runs on an old version of PHP, nobody wrote anything down, and every change breaks something else. We take systems like that over, make them safe to change, and bring them up to date without stopping the business.

  • The developer who built it is gone, and so are the notes.
  • It runs on an old PHP or Laravel version nobody dares touch.
  • Small changes take weeks and break something else.
  • Pages get slower as the data grows.
  • You are not sure who has the passwords and server access.
How we do it

Safe first, then better.

Each step is released and checked before the next one starts.

  1. 01

    Review

A plain report on the code, data and deployment: what works, what is risky, what to do first.

  2. 02

    Secure

Code in version control, backups that restore, and access in your name.

  3. 03

    Test

Tests around the parts the business relies on, so every change is checked.

  4. 04

    Upgrade

PHP and Laravel brought up to date one safe step at a time.

  5. 05

    Improve

Then the slow pages, missing features and daily workarounds.

FAQ

Questions people ask us

Ask us something else

Can you take over a system another developer built?

Yes. We start by reading the code and the data and telling you plainly what state it is in: what works, what is risky, and what it would take to fix. Then you decide what happens next, with no obligation to continue with us.

Our developer left and nobody can change the system. What now?

First get the code, the database and the server access out of one person's hands: the repository, server and domain logins, and any API keys. If you are not sure you have them all, tell us what you do have and we will help you work out what is missing.

Do we have to stop using the system while you upgrade it?

No. We upgrade in stages and keep the current system running until each part of the new one is proven. Tests go in before anything is changed, so we know a change has not broken something else.

Is it better to upgrade or rebuild?

Usually upgrade. A rebuild throws away years of rules the business depends on, many of which nobody wrote down. We rebuild a part only when it costs more to keep than to replace, and we show you why.

Which systems do you work on?

Systems written in PHP, from older plain-PHP applications to every version of Laravel. If yours is built on something else, ask anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people.

Tell us what is slowing your business down.

A 30-minute call, an honest answer on whether software will fix it, and what it would take. We reply within one working day.
